Free ideal weight calculator: calculate your healthy body weight range based on height and gender using the Devine formula. Find your ideal weight for better health.
Ideal body weight (IBW) is an estimate of a healthy weight range for your height. This calculator uses three common formulas (Devine, Robinson, Miller) to give you a range rather than a single number. Note that ideal weight does not account for muscle mass or body composition.
DEXA scans, hydrostatic weighing, and BodPod are the most accurate methods. The US Navy circumference method used here provides a reasonable estimate within 3-4% of these lab methods.
We use the Mifflin-St Jeor equation, which is considered the most accurate for the general population. For men: 10xweight(kg) + 6.25xheight(cm) - 5xage(y) + 5. For women: 10xweight + 6.25xheight - 5xage - 161.
A BMI between 18.5 and 24.9 is considered healthy. Below 18.5 is underweight, 25-29.9 is overweight, and 30+ is obese. BMI is a screening tool - it doesn't account for muscle mass or body composition.
